By Martin Evans, Crime Correspondent

The key suspect in the hunt for the new ‘Jihadi John’ was able to travel to Syria with his wife and four children under the noses of the security services, despite being on bail for alleged terrorism offences, it has emerged.

The family of British Muslim convert, Siddhartha Dhar, last night admitted that the killer seen shooting a prisoner in the head in the latest Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (Isil) video, could be the 32-year-old former bouncy castle salesman from east London.

Siddhartha Dhar's family have identified him as the Isil killer

Both his mother and sister said they had watched the video, released by Isil on Sunday, and noticed similarities between the voice of the masked Jihadi and Dhar.

Dhar, who is also known as Abu Rumasayah, was arrested in September 2014 alongside the preacher Anjem Choudary on suspicion of belonging to the banned group Al-Muhajiroun.

The difference between Isis and Saudi Arabia

Since a Twitter user compared Saudi Arabia’s decision to execute a poet to Isis' punishments people have been likening the Arab country to the extremist regime

Alexandra Sims

A Twitter storm sparked by a user comparing Saudi Arabia’s decision to execute a poet to punishments carried out by Isis, has led the Kingdom to threaten to sue anyone who describes it as “Isis-like”.

Since the comparison, hundreds have invited the country to sue them with the hashtag #SueMeSaudi and have further likened the Arab country to Isis’ regime.

Is there a difference, then, between the sovereign state – an ally of Britain and the US - and the extremist terror group?

Egyptian Islamist party bans female candidates campaign banners

Egypt’s ultra-conservative Islamist Nour Party is receiving criticism after opting not to publish photos of female Coptic Christian candidates for the October 18-19 elections.

Youness Makhioun, the head of the Nour Party, stated in October 2014 that the party would only allow women to run if they wear a hijab, or Islamic head covering. The party would also force women to use roses on banners instead of the female’s face because their interpretation of Sharia law “mandates that the faces of Muslim women should not be shown or featured.” It appears they are now extending that to Christian women as well.
